Qliro has a strong and growing market position within digital payment solutions for e-commerce in the Nordics, which is a market with a strong underlying growth. 2021 saw 2.5 million active consumers, ~ 50 large e-commerce merchants, and 7.5 million payment transactions using Qliro payment services.
Qliro is seeking to further accelerate its pace of innovation and has therefor chosen to invest in cloud adoption.
To accelerate and reduce risk Qliro chose to engage in the AWS Migration Acceleration Program (MAP). This is a comprehensive and proven cloud migration program based upon AWS’s experience migrating thousands of enterprise customers to the cloud. MAP uses a proven three-phased framework (Assess, Mobilize, and Migrate and Modernize) to help you achieve your migration goals.
Enabling Accelerated and Delegated Migration on a Solid Foundation
Qliro had already built some experience on AWS but looked for guidance in how to build a solid and secure AWS platform, how to best take advantage of AWS services for their workloads, and to assist the product teams with deep AWS expertise. As the appointed Migration Partner Qliro chose Omegapoint.
”In the pursuit of scale and our increasing transaction volume, we have decided to leave on-prem and pursue a fully cloud-based platform on AWS. Making sure that we do things right from the start and secure our data properly, we needed to find a partner who had done it before and had a security driven approach. Omegapoint proved to have deep knowledge and long experience working with AWS. Key to us was also that Omegapoint showed great willingness o support Qliro in building our skills and adopting to our organization, rather than Omegapoint doing the migration for us.”, says Mattias Forsberg, CTO at Qliro.
During the project Omegapoint helped Qliro establish an AWS foundation or ”Landing Zone”. Key characteristics are ability to support autonomous product teams, keeping central governance of e.g. security guardrails, architectural best-practices and network, and support for hybrid environment with AWS and on-premises systems.
Omegapoint also assist the Qliro product teams in architectural decisions and with deep AWS service knowledge in their migration and target AWS architecture, to minimize migration risk while taking advantage of the new capabilities that the AWS platform offers.
AWS Services in the Landing Zone and migrated workloads include AWS Organizations, AWS Security Hub, Guard Duty, AWS Config, AWS VPC, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, Route53, RDS, AWS Managed Service for Kafka, API Gateway, Lambda, AWS ECS, and many more.
